One of my friends recently said that every week she lets one of her toddler grandchildren lead her on a walk. This week they went on a forest walk together.
When she stands back, she sees what interests the child and what the child shies away from. My friend is encouraged to explore the world the way her grandchild sees the world.
So much of a young child's day is dictated by their parents, teachers, daycare providers, and so on. By letting children sometimes lead, we are empowering them and we discover new wonders we might otherwise miss.
Hope you have a little one in your life to take you on a walk soon!
