Whether you love creating or you don’t, come and play with us. The focus is on expression not perfection. Come and explore and discover how to pray using felt pens, colored pencils and/or watercolors.
Dec. 3: Praying in Color
If you want to pray but words escape you or your mind wanders when you pray, this is an active form of prayer using colored pens and paper. Join Sue for a morning of doodling while we pray about the people in our lives and the situations in the world.
Dec. 10: Praying with Mandalas
Making Mandalas has been used as a spiritual practice in many different faith traditions for centuries.
Sue will start with 3 words and a visual spiritual practice followed by encouraging some creative writing that will lead participants to eventually create their own mandalas. Whether you use this to help you quiet your mind, center your heart or express your prayers, this spiritual practice will leave you relaxed and connected.
Dec. 17: Prayer Squares
Creating prayer squares is a form of art journaling.
Sue will lead participants through an exercise where they will be encouraged to express their "laments" on paper followed by painting or colouring over those words. Such a simple process and yet such a transforming experience.
The goals of mindful art journaling are diverse. Whether you use this exercise to reduce stress, or use it to express your prayers, the therapeutic aspect of this experience can be powerful. Even just a few minutes a day can help improve moods, lower anxiety, and foster a feeling of peace.
All classes led by WayPoint's Director Sue Rodgers.
Please note that you will need to supply your own felt pens, pencil crayons, and/or watercolors and paper for the class.
Registration button is below. Please note: Registration for EACH class will close at 7 pm on Tuesday before that week's class.
